| The Stradivari takes its name from the 19th-century
Belgian cellist, Adrien Francois Servais
(1807-1866). The Servais cello is uniquely famous for its state of preservation and musical excellence. Gentile searched for the exact types of spruce, maple, ebony and Indian rosewood needed to keep his exquisite reproduction true to the original. The character in the figured wood has been recreated by applying the color into the varnish between the 14 layers. The original dovetail jointing technique was used to graft the neck of the cello onto the scroll. It took Gentile approximately six months of eight to 12-hour days to produce this beautiful work of art. Interested in owning the collection? Click here. |
